> FreshBooks's current offer: 80% off for 3 months, checked on freshbooks.com on 5 Oct 2026. FreshBooks gives prices on request at freshbooks.com.

FreshBooks sells four plans, Lite, Plus, Premium and Select, and the main thing that separates them is how many clients you can bill each month: 5 on Lite, 50 on Plus and no cap from Premium up. Every plan covers one owner, and each extra team member costs $11 a month according to FreshBooks' US pricing page. You can try it for 30 days without a card, and a 30-day money-back guarantee applies once you pay. Introductory discounts run for a set number of months, after which the regular price takes over.

FreshBooks handles invoicing and accounting for freelancers and service businesses. You send professional invoices and estimates, track time and expenses, and let it chase late payers with automatic reminders. Clients can pay online by card, and it connects to Stripe. It suits people who bill clients for their time and are not accountants.

## Questions

### What counts as a billable client on FreshBooks?

A billable client is anyone you send an invoice to in a given month. Lite allows 5, Plus allows 50, and Premium and Select have no limit. If you invoice a sixth client on Lite, you need to upgrade, so count your regular customers before choosing.

### What does the Lite plan leave out?

Lite skips bank reconciliation, double-entry accounting reports and accountant access. It also has no proposals with e-signatures and no project profitability view. For a freelancer who sends a few invoices and hands paperwork to an accountant once a year, those gaps may not matter. If your accountant wants to log in, Plus is the lowest plan that allows it.

### How much does it cost to add my bookkeeper or a contractor?

FreshBooks charges $11 a month for each team member on top of the plan, per its US pricing page. That fee covers employees and contractors who log time or expenses. Advanced Payments is a separate $20 a month add-on, included only in Select.

### What happens when the free trial ends?

The trial lasts 30 days and FreshBooks does not ask for a card to start it. When it ends, you pick a plan to keep sending invoices. Plus and Premium often carry an introductory discount for the first few months, so compare the regular price before you commit.

### Can I get my money back if FreshBooks does not suit me?

FreshBooks advertises a 30-day money-back guarantee on its pricing page. That gives you a month after your first payment to ask for a refund. The trial itself runs without a contract, so you can test invoicing on real clients before paying anything.
