Holded vs Quipu: accounting software for Spain

Quipu is the better fit for an autónomo who wants to keep their own books: it scans receipts, prepares the quarterly tax forms and has a free plan to start. Holded makes sense once you are a company with staff, stock or projects to track, because it puts accounting, inventory, a light CRM and team management in one app. Both are ready for Verifactu, so compliance does not decide it; the size of your business does.

Questions

What people ask about Holded vs Quipu.

Which is cheaper, Holded or Quipu?

Quipu has a free plan, so day one costs nothing. Holded has no free plan, and we do not list its price because it was not confirmed when we last checked. Holded covers more ground, such as inventory and projects, so compare it against the features you will use. For a freelancer with simple books, Quipu costs less.

Are both ready for Verifactu?

Yes. Holded sends each approved invoice, ticket or corrective invoice to the tax agency and adds the QR code. Quipu says its invoicing meets Verifactu on every plan at no extra cost. Companies paying corporation tax must use adapted software from 1 January 2027, and autónomos from 1 July 2027.

Can my gestoría work with these apps?

Quipu is built for that: you keep income and expenses in one place and share them with your gestoría when the quarter closes. Holded prepares Spain's official tax forms itself, which suits businesses that do more of the work in-house. Ask your gestoría which one they already use, since that saves an export step.

Can I move from Quipu to Holded as I grow?

Yes, and the timing is easiest at the start of a quarter or tax year. Export your contacts, invoices and expenses from Quipu and import them into Holded. Keep your old invoice series numbering consistent so your records stay correct for Hacienda.

Are they only for businesses in Spain?

Both are built for the Spanish market, with Spain's tax forms and rules. If you are a foreign resident registered as autónomo or running an SL in Spain, either one works. If you bill from another country, they will not file your local returns.
