Let Claude write and organise your Notion pages
Meeting notes, specs and to-dos end up scattered across pages nobody can find.
How it connects
This setup is for anyone who writes meeting notes, specs or task lists in Notion and wants them filed in the right place without manual tidying. Claude creates and updates Notion pages and database entries from your rough notes, then shares links in Slack. You end up with consistent pages in known locations and a channel that announces them.
Set it up
1Connect the Notion MCP server
Add Notion's hosted MCP server in Claude Desktop or Claude Code and sign in with OAuth. Claude reads and writes with your Notion permissions, so it can edit any page you can edit. Ask it to search for a known page to confirm the connection works.
Tip: Duplicate an important page before the first write test so you have a clean copy to compare.
2Choose where pages go
Pick the exact database or parent page for each kind of content, for example a Meeting Notes database and a Specs page. Give Claude the page URLs and the property names it should fill, such as Date, Owner and Status. Put these rules in a Claude project or CLAUDE.md so every session uses them.
Tip: Database properties must already exist; Claude fills them but you should create and name them yourself.
3Ask for structured output
Paste raw notes or a transcript and ask for a specific structure: summary, decisions, action items with owners, and open questions. For specs, give Claude your headings so new pages match old ones. Open each new page in Notion and check owners and dates before you share it.
Tip: Ask Claude to create action items as separate database rows so you can filter and assign them.
4Share new pages
Connect the Slack MCP server and limit the bot to the channels where page links belong. After Claude creates a page, have it post the title, a two-line summary and the link. Keep posting to a small set of channels so people know where to look.
Tip: Ask Claude to post only after you confirm the page, at least for the first week.
Then just ask
Good to know
What you need
- A Notion account with edit access to the target databases and pages
- Claude Desktop or Claude Code
- A Slack workspace where you can install the Slack app
- Existing database properties for the fields you want filled
Limits
- Claude may get Notion formatting wrong on complex layouts such as columns, synced blocks or embeds.
- Owners and dates come from your notes; if the notes are vague, Claude will guess or leave them empty.
- Large edits to long pages can be slow and may need several prompts.
Keep it safe
- Grant access to specific teamspaces only.
- Keep private HR and finance pages out of scope.
