No, the free plan has no paid subscriptions and no access to the beehiiv ad network. Both start on a paid plan. Launch still gives you unlimited sends to up to 2,500 subscribers, a web archive and landing pages. Many writers build the list on Launch first and upgrade once sponsors or paying readers are within reach.

Do I need a card to try Lite or Pro?

Beehiiv says its paid trials need no credit card. A new account gets 14 days with the paid features switched on. If you don't upgrade, the account drops back to the free plan instead of charging you.

What do I lose if the trial ends and I stay on the free plan?

Surveys you published during the trial are taken offline, and signup flows tied to automations stop running. Custom pages, upgrade pages and HTML blocks built in the trial need a paid plan to stay published. Your subscribers and past posts remain in the account. Plan the trial around the features you are testing, so nothing you rely on goes dark on day 15.
