Buffer charges per connected social channel, so a bakery posting to Instagram and Facebook pays for two. The free plan covers up to three channels for one user, with 10 scheduled posts per channel. Essentials adds unlimited scheduling and analytics, and Team adds extra users and approval steps. Nonprofits, charities and open source projects with 1,000+ GitHub stars can ask for 50% off every paid plan.

Questions

What people ask about Buffer.

Does Buffer charge me per account or per user?

Buffer bills per channel: each Instagram, LinkedIn or TikTok profile you connect counts as one. Billed monthly, Essentials is USD 5 and Team USD 10 per channel a month. From the eleventh channel onwards the per-channel rate drops. On Team, adding colleagues costs nothing extra beyond the channels.

Is the free plan enough for a small shop posting a few times a week?

It can be if you stay within three channels and keep your queue short. Each channel holds 10 scheduled posts at a time, and only one person can log in. That suits a weekly batch of posts for Instagram and Facebook. Planning a month ahead or sharing the account with a helper needs a paid plan.

Who qualifies for the nonprofit discount and how do I apply?

Registered nonprofits and charities qualify, along with open source projects that have more than 1,000 stars on GitHub. Charities fill in the form on buffer.com/nonprofits. Open source maintainers email [email protected] with a link to the repository. The 50% discount covers all paid plans.

How much do I save by paying for a year?

Buffer prices yearly billing at ten months for twelve, roughly 20% off. Essentials comes to USD 60 per channel a year and Team to USD 120, according to the pricing page. The free plan has no yearly option because it costs nothing. Yearly billing makes sense once you know how many channels you will keep.

Can I test Essentials or Team before I pay?

Yes, the paid plans come with a 14-day free trial. Connect the channels you post to and schedule a real week of content to see whether the analytics and queue limits suit you. Buffer accepts major cards such as Visa, Mastercard and Amex when you upgrade. If you skip the upgrade, you keep using the free plan.
