HubSpot sells its CRM in tiers: a free account for up to two users and 1,000 contacts, then Starter, Professional and Enterprise, each billed per seat. Starter removes HubSpot branding from your forms and emails and is cheaper when you commit for a year. The startup programme cuts the price of Professional and Enterprise for founders who have raised up to Series A, and the trial lets you test Marketing Hub Professional before you pay.

Questions

What people ask about HubSpot.

How far does the free HubSpot CRM go before I have to pay?

The free account covers two users and up to 1,000 contacts, with no card needed to sign up. Forms, emails and some other tools carry HubSpot branding, and you get a single automated action. Once you add a third person or pass the contact limit, you move to a paid seat.

Who qualifies for the 90% startup discount?

HubSpot for Startups gives the top rate to companies that have raised pre-seed, seed or Series A money and nothing beyond. You prove it through one of HubSpot's approved partners, such as an accelerator or investor, or through funding listed on Crunchbase or PitchBook. Startups linked to an approved entrepreneurial organisation without that funding get a smaller rate of 30% in year one and 15% in year two.

Does the startup discount apply to Starter plans?

No. HubSpot applies it only to new Professional or Enterprise products, so a Starter seat stays at list price. The discount steps down over three years: 90% in year one, 50% in year two and 25% in year three. Budget for the full price from year four.

Is the yearly commitment on Starter worth it?

HubSpot's pricing page says you save up to 65% on Starter by committing annually, and that saving is for new customers. Month-to-month billing costs more per seat but lets you drop seats sooner. If your team size is settled, the yearly plan is the cheaper way to pay.

What happens when the Professional trial ends?

The trial gives you 14 days of Marketing Hub Professional without a credit card. Your free CRM account and its contacts stay in place after it ends. Professional features such as the larger automation limits stop working until you buy a paid seat.
