Trello bills per user, and multi-board guests count as paying members at the same rate. The Free plan allows up to 10 collaborators and 10 boards per Workspace, with a 10MB limit per file and 250 automation runs a month. Standard removes the board cap, while Premium adds Calendar, Timeline, Table, Dashboard and Map views with unlimited automation. Eligible nonprofits get 75% off paid plans by applying through Atlassian's community licence request.

Questions

What people ask about Trello.

When does a small team outgrow Trello's Free plan?

Usually at the eleventh board or the eleventh person, since Free caps each Workspace at 10 of each. Large attachments hit the 10MB file limit sooner for design teams. Standard lifts the board cap and allows files up to 250MB.

Do guests on my boards cost money?

A guest who sits on one board is free. Trello's pricing page says guests on several boards are billed at the same rate as members. Check your guest list before upgrading, because clients you added to two boards each become a paid seat.

How do nonprofits get the 75% discount?

Trello sends nonprofits to Atlassian's community licence request form, since Trello belongs to Atlassian. Atlassian checks your organisation's nonprofit status before the discount applies. Once approved, the 75% comes off paid Trello plans.

How much cheaper is yearly billing?

On Trello's site, Standard costs $5 per user per month billed yearly against $6 billed monthly, in US dollars. Premium is $10 yearly against $12.50 monthly. That is roughly a fifth off for committing to the year.

Can I try Premium before paying, and what if I downgrade?

Trello lets any Workspace start a free Premium trial, so you can test the Timeline and Dashboard views on live boards. If you downgrade later, you keep the paid features until the end of the period you already paid for. After that, Free limits apply again, including the 10 board cap.
