Questions
Do I need an agent, or would a better email or calendar app do?
If email is the problem, Superhuman from $33 a month or Shortwave from $30 a month will save hours without handing anything over. If your days overflow, Motion or Reclaim.ai rebuild your calendar around meetings and deadlines. Agents such as Dots, Grok's agents or Lindy suit work that spans several apps, like researching, booking and following up. Fix the biggest time sink first.
Which personal AI assistants are free?
Reclaim.ai has a free Lite plan, and Lindy has a free plan for building a first agent. Muse from Meta has a free plan, but only in the US. The rest are paid: Motion from $19, Shortwave from $30 and Superhuman from $33 a month. Dots starts at $100 and Grok's agents at $300 a month.
I use Gmail. Superhuman or Shortwave?
Both work with Gmail, and Superhuman also works with Outlook. Superhuman is built for speed from the keyboard, with a split inbox, reminders and AI drafts. Shortwave leans on AI that searches your inbox, summarises long threads and drafts replies. Shortwave has a 14-day trial, so test it on a busy week.
Can I use Meta's Muse in Europe?
Not yet. Muse is available in the US, where it has a free plan for sending emails and booking travel on your behalf. In Europe, Dots, Grok's agents and Lindy cover similar errands. Check availability again before you plan around Muse.
How much should I let an assistant do without asking?
Start with drafts and suggestions, then widen permissions once you trust the results. Dots lets you decide what agents may do alone and when they must ask first. Grok's agents check with you when they need approval. Keep payments and anything sent to clients behind an approval step.
